It’s been almost two months since I started a Facebook fan page, or embraced the suck, as I call it. And, in that time, I’ve figured a few things out.

1) SHORTER IS BETTER
When I sit down to write a longer blog post, or slave in front of the editing suite to put together a video (like this steaming piece of shit), it’s not nearly as successful as when I take three seconds to Tweet about the weather.
Not sure how to take that. Maybe I’m better in small doses.

2) I SHOULD MOVE TO PERU
The three countries where most of my likes come from are Indonesia and the Philippines. Which makes sense. Then I get the third most likes from Peru. Peru? Really? I don’t even speak Spanish, though that doesn’t stop me from trying. But why Peru? None of the stuff I’ve done even comes close to showing up in South America.
My theory is that there must be some Peruvian Jason Godfrey that people are mistaking me for. Either that or they’re really short on their own TV people, so they’re poaching folks from Asia. Either way, non pasa nada. Muchas gracias a todo Peru!

3) EMBRACING THE SUCK ISN’T NEARLY AS SUCKY AS I THOUGHT.
(For the record the above photo is hit number three when googling ‘Happy Idiot’)
And yes, I’m a happy idiot. I never wanted a Facebook fan page. The idea of it seemed sort of self absorbed and narcissistic. When I started hosting, people told me I should start a page, that it was now part of my job. So I embraced the status quo, embraced self interest, and did it.
A couple months later, I’m happy I started it. It’s been fun interacting with everyone on the page, and so far everyone has been completely positive and supportive. Which has been great, and totally stopped my mother from having to comment to protect her only child.
So thanks a ton to everyone out there for liking the page. I hope to continue to interact with everyone and make the fan page a fun place to spend a couple minutes of your day.
